Chopin’s monument in Shanghai was unveiled on 3rd March 2007. It is situated in the Sun Jat-sen Park and measures 7 meters together with the plinth, which makes it slightly taller than Chopin’s monument in Warsaw’s Royal Łazienki Park. The sculpture was designed by Lu Pin, Shanghai-born graduate of Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts.
The statue, in marble, was carved by Jacques Froment Thomas and was presented to Parc Monceau, Paris in 1906.
A statue to Chopin was erected in Schwiezergarten to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the composer birthday, as the gift of the Republic of Poland to the City of Vienna. The monument was created by the Polish sculptor Krzysztof M. Bednarski and unveiled in 2010.
